![]() So even covering your ship in turrets wouldn't net you much, and would just cause you to eat through more ammo then you even thought imaginable. This is comparing ships of equal size and fitting. The solo ships would get torn to shreds before they could dent the shields of the other ship. So your scenario there would be, the 2 solo ships would LOSE to the fully manned ship (as it is currently) because the auto turrets would be dealing 1/2 or even 1/4th the damage of the manned ones. No matter how you turn it: No to automated turrets.Īuto Turrets deal less damage then manned ones. IF there would be a switch to disable automated turrets in multiplayer we will soon see players setting up MP servers with auto-turrets enabled, which will sneak auto-turrets into a demanded/default setting. In every setting 2 players with 2 ships with auto-turrets will weight more than a single ship with non-auto turrets. There is no possible way to balance auto-turrets in MP. Maybe I'm just too old? I'm sure as hell grumpy enough. If you can't learn a skill, then you'll just have to spend extra time to get it done. ![]() It's a skill to drop out of warp at 200 meters from a station or something after flying 9AU especially when there isn't a planet to do it for you. Hell, I already dislike the arrow suggesting when to lower your warp speed, the function of it doing it on itself when nearing planets is more than enough and I wish I could even turn it off. Actual immersion rather than "it's scifi, we should have AI for everything". EVA to repair hull damage rather than sending out a drone is still at the top of my wishlist. I'm still an advocate (and always will be) for having to do stuff yourself. Maybe it's a generation thing? Am I too old, wanting to do actual work? Pick a target planet on a starmap and select "find asteroid field - mine copper" from a dropdown menu and sit back as it's all being done by automatons? What do you want to do at the end, sit in your captain's chair while everything is run on its own? There's a cargo teleporter, learn to use it. There's already been requests for cargo moving bots and automated belts to move your cargo from the extractor to the cargo bay because lifting and walking is "so dull". ![]() There's plenty of things to do on your own besides combat, no need to automate everything, because once they automate something then others will want other things automated. You could make a ship you can fly on your own, utilizing fixed guns and advanced missiles (or regular ones, at that). That way players can have manned, and un-manned turrets on their ships, some for when the crew is NOT online, and some for when they are. My original idea was to use the assembler to make a bot (like the ones you see on at the station counters) and then place it inside the turret to make it automated. Gotta make the it in the printer (suggested, Silicon, Gold (duh LOL), Osmium), then add it to your server farm, suggested 1 min duration per an upgrade. (For a short time only, as balance dictates)
